Christmas Shopping List
Webquest
Introduction
You have been chosen to be a helper at the local charity giving away toys
to needy children. The charity has
given you the task of shopping and picking out presents for the children.
They are giving you $200 total. You
must buy toys for both boys and girls ages 5-10.
How are you going to spend your money??
Task
The task is to shop online for your gifts and add up the totals of the
gifts you have chosen. You need to
get as close to $200 as possible, but you cannot go over.
You also need to make sure you have been fair in your shopping and bought
toys for both boys and girls.
Process
õ
You will first click on the spreadsheet
and type in your partner’s and your name in the spot under the title.
õ
Then, you will
read this entire section before you continue doing anything.
õ
Next, you will then go to the resource section (keep
scrolling down after you are done reading this) to find links to some different
stores’ websites.
õ
Click on these links and start shopping for toys.
õ
Once you have decided on a toy, go back to your
spreadsheet and type in the name of the item that you are going to buy.
õ
Then, in the column next to it, type in the price.
At the bottom of your list you will see that the sheet keeps adding up
your prices for you so you can see how close to $200 you have gotten.
õ
Be sure to click save after each time you add in an
item.
õ
Continue shopping in this way until you have gotten
to as close to $200 as possible.
õ
If you finish early, try “comparison shopping”.
That means see if one of the toys you chose is cheaper at one of the
other stores on your list.
õ
If at any time you decide to change an item, all you
have to do is click on it in your spreadsheet and hit backspace.
Be sure to also click on the price and hit backspace to erase the price.
õ
Once you have completely finished shopping, scroll
down to the reflection section and answer the questions on a piece of paper with
your partner.
õ
Good luck and have fun shopping!
